Constructed at the turn of the century, the hotel already formed part of the architectural ensemble of Wilhelmstraße at the height of the "Bäderstil" ("resort style") period.

As with many other attractive villas of this period, the building's dazzle gradually faded over the last 40 years.

In summer 1997 it was finally reopened with beautifully furnished guest rooms, an ice cream café and a restaurant.
