This fascinating, unique art hotel in Wuppertal offers great accommodation, striking design and amazing art.
More than 50 artists were involved in the design of the hotel and helped to shape the stunning restaurant, the café, the hotel’s own private gallery and the Persian hammam.
Every three months the hotel hosts a new exhibition by up-and-coming, contemporary artists. The hotel does not receive any profit from any of the paintings sold and instead the income from every sale goes to 6 children’s hospitals which are sponsored by the Bethe foundation.
This historic building was once a factory owned by the family of Friedrich Engels, and Engels himself was involved in the workshop here. In the past Karl Marx received his money from here while he was writing his Manifesto.
This building now houses the Art Fabrik Hotel (Fabrik meaning factory). The concept behind the hotel is to merge art and charity and the hotel’s special commitment is to children’s hospices. Several years ago, Roswitha and Erich Bethe, the founders of the Bethe Foundation, developed the unusual concept of the Art Fabrik Hotel.
The hotel’s unique restaurant is a work of art in itself. Here you can experience how art, music and food harmonise perfectly together. Every aspect of the restaurant was designed and created by artists and each individual chair and table is evidence of their commitment and attention to detail. Every evening a pianist provides diners with live accompaniment.
The Persian hammam offers a different concept of relaxation, inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights. Indulge yourself with an oriental massage or a sauna.
After a day of relaxation and pampering, enjoy a coffee or tea in the tearoom.
