The recently renovated Marathon Hotel is conveniently situated just off the A7 highway to Groningen. Do you feel like sailing on the famous Frisian waters? Does a bicycle ride sounds nice? Or does a relaxed day in the Beauty Therm centre appael to you? Maybe a visit to the museum of the artist Jopie Huisman, or take a look at how pottery making has changed over the centuries. The Marathon Hotel is a hotel where our guests like to stay, because the hotel is ideally situated between lakes, woods and the big cities in the north of Holland; Groningen and Leeuwarden.
Within 60 km from the hotel you can reach the 11 historical cities and the national park ' De Alde Feanen' of Friesland.
From our hotel it is also possible to make a day trip to one of the Dutch islands Ameland and Schiermonnikoog.

In addition to the listed facilities all our budget and standard rooms are cosily decorated and provided with a bed with a box spring mattress.

Restaurants and Bars
You can enjoy our restaurant and bar facilities at the hotel. You can make a choice from four entrées, four mains and four desserts. We vary this menu each week with different specialities!
If you like the Dutch terrace-culture you can choose from two terraces at the Marathon. Have a refreshing drink at the front or kick-back in the relaxing garden on the other side. Inside, the charming bar will influence you with the Dutch virus. Having a BBQ with a group? For 10 persons or more we can take care of your needs!
Of course the Fries sugar bread and special (alcoholic) drink “Beerenburg” won’t be short in the Marathon Hotel.
Breakfast
Our buffet style breakfast is served in our restaurant, complete with loads of variety. Choose from top quality fruits, orange juice, milk, cereals, various breads, cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs, yoghurt, tea, coffee, and chocolate milk. Ask us about our special Fries sugar-bread!

From Heerenveen/Amsterdam:
Turn off exit no.29 at the A7 highway to Drachten – De Haven. Turn right at first set of traffic lights. Marathon Hotel is then directly on your left.
From Groningen:
Turn off exit no.29 at the A7 highway to Drachten – De Haven. Turn right at first set of traffic lights. Marathon Hotel is then directly on your left.
From Leeuwarden:
From Zuiderhogeweg into Drachten. Turn left at the third set of traffic lights. Watch out for the speed control cameras on this route!
